We believe that every Jewish student should be able to travel to Israel on an organised program, regardless of financial circumstances.
The following list of scholarships, subsidies, and loans is intended to assist you with your application to participate in an AUJS program to Israel. Please read the eligibility criteria carefully and contact either AUJS or the organisations listed for more information and to apply.
All scholarship or subsidy amounts are in Australian dollars, unless specified otherwise, and are subject to variation by the listed organisations.
In addition to this list, AUJS may agree to provide interest free payment plans on mutually-agreed payment schedules. Please contact ip@aujs.com.au for more information.
Masa Israel scholarships

Amount | US$500 universal scholarship for every participant. Needs-based scholarships up to US$10,000 also available, depending on the length of your program. |
Description | The AUJS Aviv program qualifies for a Masa scholarship. All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal and needs-based scholarships. It takes up to 45 days for applications to be processed in Israel. Once your Masa grant has been approved, the grant is automatically deducted from the total cost of the program. |

JCA Millie Phillips Jewish Education Fund

Description | The JCA Millie Phillips Jewish Education Fund is designed to support educational programs for Jewish students. Means-tested subsidies are available for AUJS Aviv and AUJS Academy for applicants from NSW and ACT. The application process includes an application form and supporting documentation. |

Asher Israel Scholarship

Description | As a living memory to Richard Asher Waynblum, the sum of a return ticket to Israel will be provided for a young person aged between 17 and 25 wishing to spend time in Israel for a minimum period of six weeks. |

Adler – Kaspi Israel Scholarships

Description | In memory of Andrew Adler Z"L and Shlomo Kaspi Z"L, scholarships to Israel are available for young adults to cover costs or tuition to undertake studies or professional development in Israel. Candidates should be aged between 21 and 30. Preference is given to applications with established financial need. The scholarship funds must be used within 12 months of being awarded. Preference will be given to applicants who are active in the Jewish or general communities. Applications closed in 2015 on 31 May. At this stage, the scholarship is not offered on an annual basis. |

The William Kaye Memorial Study in Israel Scholarship

Eligibility | Any person of any religion who is a resident of Australia or New Zealand. They must plan to undertake a study program in Israel for 16 days or more, of which at least half must be on a formal study course. The course and its institution must be open, just, and equitable to students, and must not denigrate any group or approach to Judaism. |

Description | The scholarship fund has been established in memory of the late The Hon William Kaye AO, a long-standing member of the Leo Baeck Centre for Progressive Judaism, to assist people to study in and develop their relationship with Israel. It is particularly intended to assist those who would otherwise struggle to fund such a study visit. |

Erman Trust

Description | Under the auspices of the Auckland Zionist Society, the Erman Trust was established with a generous endowment left by the late Alice Erman. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to members of the New Zealand Jewish community who wish to further their education by participating in programs in Israel. |

Description | Jewish Care in Victoria offers Jump Start interest free loans for those experiencing financial difficulty. Loans are awarded following an application process and include an expectation to repay the loan within an agreed timeframe. |

Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship

The Bernard Lustig Memorial Scholarship

Description | B'nai B'rith Victoria has offered the Bernard Lustig Memorial Scholarship annually since 1955. It is the longest established scholarship available to Jewish students in the state. The grant category applicable to AUJS international programs is intended to support the travel costs of a tertiary student who has displayed outstanding leadership in Jewish student activities and wishes to further his or her experience overseas. |

The Jenny Goldberg Community Service Grant

Description | Under the auspices of B'nai B'rith Victoria, the Jenny Goldberg Community Service Grant is to honour the memory of the late Jenny Goldberg and to acknowledge her commitment, support, friendship, and untiring work that she gave to the community; Jewish and non-Jewish. Candidates may be nominated by individuals, or communal, educational, youth, or sports organisations and/or other related community groups/activities. Candidates must reside in Victoria, be Jewish up to 35 years of age, demonstrate a commitment to community service and/or volunteer involvement in areas such as community organisations, youth groups, sports clubs, schools, universities, etc. Candidates must describe how the grant will assist in furthering the candidate's personal/professional development and interest in the area of community service and/or volunteer involvement via skills development, training and educational programs of such that will enhance the candidate's contribution to the community, or for other appropriate purposes. Candidates must provide the names of two referees to support the application. |
