NCJWA NSW - Showing of the Movie "Brave Miss World"

The Status of Women project at National Council of Jewish Women Australia NSW will be showing the movie "Brave Miss World" at NCJWA NSW in Woollahra, in the morning and evening of Thursday 30 April as part of our Status of Women program.

We are partnering with Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia, and proceeds will go 50% to Haifa Rape Crisis Centre whom we have supported as a National NCJWA project for several years, and 50% to Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia.

Miss Israel Linor Abargil was abducted, stabbed and raped in Milan, Italy, at age 18. She had to represent her country in the Miss World competition only six weeks later. When to her shock she was crowned the winner, she vowed to do something about rape. The film follows her from the rape, to her crowning and through her crusade to fight for justice and break the silence.
Karen Wills OAM, Executive Officer Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia, will speak about the work in Australia to support those who suffer from sexual assault and domestic violence.
