The Taglit-Birthright Israel trip is a gift of 10 introductory days in Israel, providing a peer group, educational experience for young Jewish adults aged 22-26. This unique tour is designed to inspire participants and give them a stronger connection to the Jewish people, Jewish life and the land of Israel - all whilst having a great time! Together with other young Australians, you will be able to enjoy the touring, spiritual and educational activities.

Taglit-Birthright Israel takes participants to many of Israel's main tourist attractions, including:

The old and new cities of Jerusalem
Tel Aviv and the port of Jaffa
The Negev desert, where participants will climb Masada and have the chance to swim in the Dead Sea
Haifa and the luscious forests of Northern part of the country

8 young Israelis will join participants for 5 days of the program. This allows participants to meet Israelis, learn some Hebrew and make great friends!

This free trip includes flights, accommodation, transport, 2 meals per day and entrance to all sites.

Participants will be required to cover the cost of travel insurance, 1 meal per day, their personal mobile phone, AU$50 as tips for the bus driver and tour guide (as is customary in Israel) and spending money.

Taglit-Birthright Israel is a partnership between the people of Israel through their government, local Jewish communities and leading Jewish philanthropists. The ZFA, with the support and the initiative of the United Israel Appeal, is proud to represent the Australian Jewish Community as the local partner in this ambitious project.

Please note, this program is ONLY open to participants from Australia, aged 22-26 (at the time of departure for Israel)

Please note: You will not be eligible for this program if you have previously been on a peer group program to Israel. This includes IST/ Ulpan, March of the Living, Shnat etc. Participants who have travelled to Israel to visit, but not with a group, will be eligible. Please contact Leora for more information about this.

Dates: 24th December 2010 - 3rd January 2011 (including return flights)

Cost: FREE! Participants must cover some minor expenses

Not included in this program is the cost of:

travel insurance (this is mandatory on all AUJS programs)

1 meal per day
