A preventable humanitarian crisis that is affecting more than two million people rages in the Darfur region of western Sudan. Not since Rwanda (1994) has the world seen such a calculated campaign of slaughter, rape, starvation and displacement.

Government-backed militias, known as the Janjaweed, are systematically eliminating entire communities. Villages are being burnt to the ground; food and water supplies are being destroyed; men and boys are being murdered; women and girls are being continually beaten and raped.

The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) is launching its campaign in a bid to raise awareness of the worsening atrocities in Darfur, with the support of the National Union of Students. The main objective is to ensure that university students on campuses across Australia and New Zealand become aware of the suffering of the people of Darfur.

Help AUJS in its campaign by signing our petition and actively engaging with students on campus. We need you to get involved and stand up against racism and genocide. Make your voice heard and say that action in Darfur is needed NOW.

People of Darfur - you are not alone.

"If there were no bystanders, there would be no perpetrators."

For many generations, the Jewish people have been unjustly persecuted and victimised. Amidst this chaos, where the value of human life seemed lost upon most, righteous people risked their lives to save their Jewish neighbours. AUJS will not stand idly by while the people of Darfur experience similar atrocities.
